MISSION STATEMENT
Àngel Añazco is an Ecuadorian-American multidisciplinary artist based in New York. Raised between Ecuador and the US, Añazco centers queer, trans, and non-conforming people of color, in particular. Her styling conveys a resplendency that draws a connection between panache and self-preservation, imploring the significance of inclusion and equitable representation.
Ángel’s work celebrates the nuances of identity at the intersection of gender, race, and culture. Believing in the potency of storytelling, Añazco employs tools such as photography, painting, and performance to amplify her mission. Her work serves as a celebration of autonomy over one's image, a deliberate act of reclaiming narratives rather than succumbing to mainstream appropriation. In addition to her solo endeavors, Ángel is half of the creative force behind Dollhouse, a collaborative partnership. Ángel received her BFA from Parsons the New School for Design.
